How to avoid phishing scams

Phishing is the fraudulent practice of publishing malicious links that appear to be genuine. The scammer hopes that an unwary surfer will click on the link and allow him to collect a password or other sensitive information.

It can also be used to impersonate a well known and trusted site or personality, and to persuade the visitor to donate money, or to purchase goods or services that will never be delivered.
